When you create a PawMatch account, we collect your name, email address, and location to connect you with adoptable pets nearby. If you list a pet for rehoming, we collect details about the pet including photos, breed, age, and temperament information. We also collect usage data such as swipe preferences and chat messages to improve your matching experience.
We use your information to operate and improve PawMatch, including matching you with compatible pets and adopters based on location, lifestyle, and preferences. Your profile information is shared with other users only when a mutual match occurs and a chat room is opened. We use anonymized, aggregated data to improve our matching algorithms.
When you make a donation through PawMatch, payment processing is handled by our third-party payment provider. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers. We retain records of donation amounts and timestamps for your donation history and to issue tax receipts where applicable.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share data only with service providers that help us operate PawMatch (such as cloud hosting and payment processing), with other users as part of the matching and chat features, and when required by law or to protect the safety of our users and their pets.
PawMatch uses your approximate location to show nearby pets and shelters. Location data is used only for distance-based matching and is never shared with advertisers. You can revoke location access at any time through your device settings; the app will fall back to approximate matching.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the Account & Security settings or by contacting us at hello@closeforge.org. Pet listing data may be retained in anonymized form for shelter statistics.
PawMatch is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete that information.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of PawMatch after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
